In Oregon's 1st Congressional District, Cornilles Ahead in GOP Primary Fight to Face Democrat Wu: In A Republican Primary for US House of Representatives in Oregon's 1st Congressional District today, 05/12/10, 2 weeks after voting began, businessman Rob Cornilles defeats mortgage broker John Kuzmanich 31% to 19%, according to this exclusive KATU-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA. Retired Navy officer Doug Keller gets 13%. Kuzmanich ties Cornilles among Republicans who are pro-choice, but trails among other groups. Keller is strong among pro-choice voters. With 34% undecided, any outcome is possible when ballots are opened in 6 days.

In the Democratic Primary, incumbent David Wu defeats Marine Corps veteran David Robinson 5:1. Wu is seeking his 7th term; in 2008, he faced no Republican opponent and was re-elected with 72% of the vote.

 
Filtering: 1,600 registered voters were interviewed by SurveyUSA 05/09/10 through 05/11/10, using Registration Based Sample (RBS) from Aristotle in Washington DC. Of the registered voters, 468 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the Republican primary; 636 were determined to be likely to vote in the Democratic primary. Voting began 04/30/10. 1 in 3 likely voters tell SurveyUSA they have already returned a ballot.
