100 Days Into Term, Shreveport Gives Mayor Perkins A Grade of "B":

Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins gets a letter grade of "B" on his first hundred days in office, according to this exclusive KTBS News poll conducted by SurveyUSA.

Converting letter grades to a 4.0-point standard Grade Point Average scale, Perkins gets a 3.0 overall. Perkins' GPA is highest among younger people, independents, those with lower household incomes, and those without a 4-year college degree; Perkins receives the lowest grades from those who voted for former mayor Ollie Tyler in the December runoff election, from older respondents, college graduates, and those with higher incomes.

Majorities find little change in Shreveport's safety, unification, and economy since Perkins took office; those seeing improvements and those seeing worsening conditions offset one another. There is little change in the level of trust Shreveport adults place in the mayor, with 28% saying they "completely trust" him today, compared to 30% when he first took office.

Asked about recent mayoral decisions, a plurality say a new garbage fee was necessary. 31% say switching the city's workman's compensation insurance provider was in the city's best interest, compared to 20% who say it was not; half of adults aren't sure. 2 of 3 say the mayor should not be allowed to remove Airport Board members before their terms end.

About: SurveyUSA interviewed 500 Shreveport adults 04/03/19 through 04/05/19. Respondents reachable on landline phones were interviewed on their home telephones in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents not reachable on a home telephone were shown a questionnaire on the display of their smartphone, tablet or other electronic device.
