| How America Sees Rupert Murdoch and News Corporation on 07/21/11. 1,200 USA adults were interviewed by SurveyUSA 07/20/11. Of the adults, 88% were familiar with Rupert Murdoch and were asked about events unfolding in London and Washington DC. Among those who are familiar with Murdoch and who are following the developing story, there is overwhelming support for investigations by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice. This survey includes respondents who do not have a home telephone. Of the adult respondents interviewed, 26% use a cell phone to make and receive calls, 74% use a landline phone to make and receive calls. This research was conducted in the middle of fast changing news events, after Rupert Murdoch's testimony to Parliament on 07/19/11. This survey should be viewed as a freeze-frame snapshot of American public opinion at a unique moment in world history. As additional facts become known, American opinions can and should be expected to change. |
