Analysis: In an election for Governor of Alabama today, 6/20/06, Republican incumbent Bob Riley defeats Democratic challenger Lucy Baxley 51% to 40%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WKRG-TV Mobile. The election is in 20 weeks, on 11/7/06. Riley leads by 29 points among men. Baxley leads by 5 points among women, a 34-point "gender gap". Riley gets 84% of Republican votes. Baxley gets 80% of Democrat votes. Riley leads 54% to 33% among Independents. Riley leads by 37 points among those who earn more than $80,000 per year. Baxley leads by 15 points among those who earn less than $40,000 a year.
 
Filtering: 1,000 Alabama adults were interviewed 6/17/06 - 6/19/06. Of them, 841 were registered to vote. Of them, 578 were judged to be "likely voters". Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
