New York: Spitzer Approval at 33%
After one full year in office, New York Governor Elliott Spitzer has a 33% approval rating and 58% disapproval rating. Subtracting disapproval from approval produces Spitzer’s Net Job Approval: Minus 25.
Spitzer’s numbers are essentially the inverse of those of New York’s two United States Senators, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton, both of whom have Net Job Approvals of Plus 24. The silver lining for Spitzer may be that his approval ratings eclipse those of President Bush in New York. While Bush has an overall approval rating of 26% in the Empire State, his 72% disapproval rating produces a Net Job Approval of Minus 46, significantly worse than Spitzer’s.
Spitzer had a 62% approval rating and Plus 38 Net Job Approval when he began his term in office.
