Two and a half weeks ago, John McCain led Hillary Clinton by 4 points and Barack Obama by 6 in Missouri. Now, Clinton has risen slightly to cut McCain’s lead to 2, and Obama has fallen and now trails McCain by 14. Today, 53% of registered voters in Missouri say they would vote for John McCain; 39% would vote for Barack Obama. This is the first time Obama has received less than 40% of Missouri votes in the past year, and represents Obama’s worst showing since polling on this matchup began in October of 2006, when McCain led Obama by 20 points, 55-35.

Research conducted 3/14 to 3/16 — after wide coverage of comments by Obama’s former Pastor, Dr. Jeremiah Wright, but before Obama’s speech on race, given Tuesday 3/18.

Full results, crosstabs, and tracking graphs available here. Research conducted exclusively for KCTV in Kansas City, Missouri.
