Washington State Governor, Democrat Christine Gregoire,  elected in a controversially tight 2004 election, is up for re-election this year and will once again face her 2004 opponent, Republican Dino Rossi.

Gregoire’s approval ratings, first tracked by SurveyUSA five months into her term, in May 2005, have fluctuated over the past three years, from a low Net Job Approval of Minus 24 back in May 2005 to a December 2006 high of Plus 16 — but for the past three months, Gregoire’s approval and disapproval have remained constant, at 51% approval and 44% disapproval, generating a Net Job Approval of Plus 7.

Gregoire’s approval is highest among Democrats, liberals, and Asian-Americans; it’s lowest among conservatives, Republicans, and those who describe themselves as being pro-life.
