Many Incumbent Republican Senators Are in Trouble in 2008, But Not Pat Roberts In Kansas
In an election for United States Senator from Kansas today, incumbent Republican Pat Roberts defeats Democrat Jim Slattery 57% to 35%, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KWCH-TV Wichita and KCTV-TV Kansas City. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released one month ago, Roberts is up 2 points; Slattery is flat. During that month, many incumbent Republicans running for statewide office in other states have seen their numbers go down. Roberts has not, a sign of Roberts’ strength. Roberts takes a majority of the vote among men and women, young and old, rich and poor, well educated and less educated, gun owners and those without guns, early voters and likely voters, and in all regions of the state. 1 in 4 Democrats cross over to vote for Roberts, who seeks his 3rd term.
