In 1st Look at WA State After Incumbent Gregoire Declines 3rd Term, Democrat May Have Slight Advantage
In SurveyUSA’s first look at the 2012 Washington state Governor’s race following the announcement by incumbent Democrat Christine Gregoire that she will not seek a 3rd term, Democrat Jay Inslee has a slight advantage over Republican Rob McKenna, in a poll conducted exclusively for KING5 TV in Seattle.
Inslee and McKenna both have Plus 15 favorability Ratings: Inslee is 31% Favorable, 16% Unfavorable. McKenna is 36% Favorable, 21% Unfavorable.
When the two go head to head among registered voters, it’s Inslee 47%, McKenna 44%.
Conservatives break 8:1 Republican and Liberals break 10:1 Democrat. Inslee’s slight overall advantage comes from moderates, where he leads by 19 points. Whites lean Republican. Minorities lean Democrat.
