Hendrix Hangs On; Set to Oust Detroit Mayor Kilpatrick: 12 hours until polls open in Detroit, challenger Freman Hendrix appears poised to defeat incumbent Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, according to the 7th and final SurveyUSA tracking poll, conducted exclusively for WDIV-TV, Channel 4. Hendrix has led by as many as 17 points and as few as 3. At the wire, he's up by 7. In the campaign's final 10 days, among male voters, Hendrix went from tied to Plus 15. Kilpatrick leads by 5 points among African Americans, who make up 82% of likely voters. Hendrix leads by 66 points among whites, who make up 13% of the likely voters. Hendrix leads 2:1 among seniors. Kilpatrick leads 4:3 among voters under age 35.

Filtering: 1,200 City of Detroit adults were interviewed 11/4/05 - 11/6/05. Of them, 1,130 were registered voters. Of them, 528 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect "likely" voters.
