Democrats Sweep Arkansas Statewide Contests for Governor, Lt Governor, Secretary of State & Attorney General: In an election in Arkansas today, 10/25/06, Democrats win in contests for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KTHV-TV Little Rock. In all contests, the Democrat's lead is increasing. The election is in 13 days, on 11/7/06. For Governor, Democrat Mike Beebe defeats Republican Asa Hutchinson, 58% to 38%. Since an identical SurveyUSA KTHV-TV poll released 4 weeks ago, on 9/27/06, Beebe's lead has grown from 15 points to 20 points. Incumbent Republican Governor Mike Huckabee is term-limited. For Lieutenant Governor, Democrat Bill Halter defeats Republican Jim Holt, 54% to 39%. 4 weeks ago, Halter led by 6; today he leads by 15. Incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller, who was not running for re-election, died 7/16/06. For Secretary of State, incumbent Democrat Charlie Daniels defeats Republican Jim Lagrone, 62% to 31%. 4 weeks ago, Daniels led by 25, now leads by 31. For Attorney General, Democrat Dustin McDaniel defeats Republican Gunner DeLay 57% to 35%. 4 weeks ago, McDaniel led by 17, now leads by 22.

Filtering: 1,000 Arkansas adults were interviewed 10/22/06 - 10/24/06. Of them, 836 were registered to vote. Of them, 572 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
