As Trump Administration Appears to Launch P.R. Campaign Against Special Counsel, California's Democrats and Republicans See Key Players Mueller, Nunes, Schiff in Russia Investigation Through Different Lenses; Is Any Harmonious Resolution Possible? California Democrats see CA Republican Congressman Devin Nunes as a "partisan," but his fellow Republicans see him as a "patriot." California Republicans see CA Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff as a "partisan," but his fellow Democrats see him as a "patriot." These are the findings of new SurveyUSA research conducted statewide for KABC-TV Los Angeles, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KGTV-TV San Diego and KFSN-TV Fresno. 31% of voters statewide have a positive opinion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is in charge of the U.S. Department of Justice investigation into possible wrongdoing by the Donald Trump campaign for President and the Trump Administration. 19% of CA voters have a negative opinion of Mueller. 44% shrug. Of those with an opinion of Mueller, 49% say they have confidence in Mueller's ability to investigate Mr. Trump fairly and impartially. 33% (including a majority of conservatives) have no confidence. 18% of voters statewide have a positive opinion of Nunes, compared to 22% who have a negative opinion. Nunes, of Tulare, chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee, represents CA's 22nd Congressional District. 23% of voters statewide have a positive opinion of Schiff, compared to 18% who have a negative opinion. Schiff, of Los Angeles County, ranking member of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee, represents CA's 28th Congressional District 35% say Nunes will go down in history as a partisan, compared to 22% who say Nunes will go down in history as a patriot. 34% say Schiff will go down in history as a partisan, compared to 25% who say Schiff will go down in history as a patriot.
