Little Distance Between Hutchison, Constantine as King County WA Executive Race Gets Underway: In an election for King County Executive held today, 09/04/09, two months until votes are counted, Susan Hutchison just edges Dow Constantine 47% to 44%, according to this latest exclusive KING-TV poll conducted by SurveyUSA. 10% of likely voters are undecided, making any outcome possible.
Hutchison, a former local TV news anchor, leads 2:1 among Republicans, conservatives, and those who are not college graduates. Constantine, currently chairman of the King County Council, leads by more nearly 3:1 among liberals and by nearly 2:1 among Democrats.
Among other groups, the leads are much smaller.
Independents back Hutchison by 10 points; moderates prefer Hutchison by 7.
Constantine has small leads among college graduates and Asian-Americans; Hutchison has small leads among men, voters age 50-64, and among those with incomes below $50K.
Women, voters age 18-49 and 65+, whites, and those with incomes above $50K are all split.
