As Early Voting Begins, 3-Way Tie in GOP Primary in Kansas 1st District: 24 hours till advance voting begins in the Republican Primary for the open US House of Representatives seat from Kansas' 1st Congressional District, 3 candidates are tied, setting up a possible photo finish, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KWCH-TV Wichita.
* State Senator Jim Barnett is at 25%, up 2 points from an identical SurveyUSA poll released 3 weeks ago. Other candidates are further back: Rob Wasinger, former Chief of Staff to Senator Sam Brownback, gets 10% today; college instructor Sue Boldra is at 5%; attorney Marck Cobb gets 2%. 12% of likely voters are undecided. Where the Wasinger, Brownback, Boldra, and Cobb supporters go, as Election Day approaches, will help determine the winner.
* In 3 SurveyUSA polls, Jim Barnett received 23%, 23%, and now 25% of the vote. The Republican primary winner will face Democrat Alan Jilka, former mayor of Salinas, in November. Incumbent Republican Representative Jerry Moran is running for United States Senate and is not seeking reelection. |
