Evergreen State's 12 Electoral Votes Remain Ever-Blue for 10th Consecutive Election, With Harris Safely Atop Trump, More Trusted on Top Issues:

No presidential drama in the state of Washington, where SurveyUSA's latest polling for The Seattle Times, KING 5 TV, and the University of Washington's Center for an Informed Public shows Vice President Kamala Harris taking 57% of the vote, former President Donald Trump 35%. 1% say they will vote for another candidate; 7% are undecided.

84% of those who voted for Trump in 2020 say they will vote for him again in 2024. 10% switch to vote for Harris. Joe Biden's 2020 voters are much more firmly in Harris' camp, with 95% voting for her and just 3% switching to Trump. Similarly, Harris takes 97% of Democrats' votes, while Trump takes 85% of Republicans'. Independents break for Harris by 15 points, 52% to 37%.

Trump leads by 82 percentage points among those who say border security is the most important issue, and by 7 points among those most focused on the cost of living. Harris leads on other issues, overwhelmingly on abortion (86 points), protecting democracy (77 points), and climate change (74 points); significantly among voters who say homelessness is their top issue (27 points); and by an 8-point margin among those who say crime is most important.

Harris leads by 35 points among college graduates and by 23 points among those who have attended some college; Trump leads by a nominal single point among those with less formal education.

Harris voters are also more certain of their choice: 93% of those who say they will vote for Kamala Harris say they will definitely vote for her; 6% say there is a chance they may change their minds. 86% of Trump voters say they are certain they will vote for him; 13% say they may change their minds. Harris also leads by a 30 point margin among those who say they are certain to vote, while Trump leads by 13 among those who say they will probably cast a ballot.

Harris is preferred by margins ranging between 16 and 35 points when voters are asked which candidate they would trust more to improve each of the following issues:
  • 35 points: Reproductive Rights. 63% say they would have more trust in Kamla Harris; 28% would have more trust in Donald Trump.
  • 22 points: Public Safety. 55% say they would trust Harris more; 33% Trump.
  • 21 points: US diplomatic relations with other nations. 57% would have more trust in Harris on this issue; 36% would have more trust in Trump.
  • 19 points: The Economy. 56% trust Harris more; 37% Trump.
  • 16 points: Immigration. 54% trust Harris more, 38% Trump – his best performance on any of the five issues.

About the Poll / Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 1,000 Washington State adults 10/09/2024 through 10/14/2024. Of the adults, 860 were registered to vote; of the registered voters, 703 were identified as being likely to vote in the November 5 general election and were asked the substantive questions which follow. This research was conducted online among a representative nonprobability sample of Washington adults, selected at random by Lucid Holdings LLC of New Orleans. Adult respondents were weighted to US Census American Community Survey targets for gender, age, race, education, and home ownership, and to 2020 recalled Presidential vote.
