| Cost of Living, Protecting Democracy, Border Security, Abortion are Most Important Issues to November Voters in Washington State:
SurveyUSA's latest exclusive polling for The Seattle Times, KING 5 TV, and the University of Washington's Center for an Informed Public shows likely November voters remain mostly focused on the same four issues that dominated the discussion when SurveyUSA last asked the question in July. 27% of likely voters say the cost of living will be the most important issue to them when they cast their ballots this year, up slightly from 25% three months ago. Those most likely to select this as their top issue include 2020 Trump voters, those who are likely but not certain to vote, Republicans, somewhat conservative voters, and voters under age 50. Protecting democracy is the next-most important issue, chosen by 16%, down slightly from 18% this summer. Voters 50+ and 2020 Biden voters say protecting democracy is their top issue. Border security and abortion tie for third, each at 12% and each up 2 points from July, but with different groups most-focused on each. Border security is the top issue for very conservative voters, with 34% choosing it, 8 points higher than they rate the cost of living. Abortion, meantime is the top issue for very liberal voters, at 39% – twice as high as protecting democracy (20%) and climate change (18%) for these voters. Remaining issues are in single digits:

| About the Poll / Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 1,000 Washington State adults 10/09/2024 through 10/14/2024. Of the adults, 860 were registered to vote; of the registered voters, 703 were identified as being likely to vote in the November 5 general election and were asked the substantive questions which follow. This research was conducted online among a representative nonprobability sample of Washington adults, selected at random by Lucid Holdings LLC of New Orleans. Adult respondents were weighted to US Census American Community Survey targets for gender, age, race, education, and home ownership, and to 2020 recalled Presidential vote. |
