State of CA Tracking Poll of November 2020 General Election Presidential Head-to-Head Match-Ups Shows Across-the-Board Erosion
In Democratic Support; Trump Gains 8 to 11 points on Front-Runners Biden, Warren, Sanders, & Harris Since Detroit Debate in August:

Though California is in no danger of flipping from a "blue" state to a "red" state, fresh research from SurveyUSA following last week's Democratic debate in Houston shows across-the-board gains for Republican President Donald Trump, slicing into the (still substantial) leads held by Democratic front-runners. This research was conducted for KGTV-TV in San Diego and the Union Tribune.

6 weeks ago, in early August, after the Democratic candidates debated in Detroit, SurveyUSA polled CA registered voters statewide on who they would pick in the battle for the White House. Today, SurveyUSA re-polls CA registered voters statewide and finds consistent blue slippage.

At this hour, in the state of California, 4 months till Super Tuesday:

* Joe Biden defeats Donald Trump by 26 points, 57% to 31%; Biden had led by 34 points in August.
* Elizabeth Warren defeats Trump by 18 points, 53% to 35%; Warren had led by 28 points in August.
* Bernie Sanders defeats Trump by 24 points, 57% to 33%; Sanders had led by 33 points in August.
* Kamala Harris defeats Trump today by 18 points, 53% to 35%; Harris had led by 29 points in August.
* Trump today defeats Beto O'Rourke by 17 points, 51% to 34%, a pairing SurveyUSA did not test in August.

Anthony Scaramucci is one vocal Republican who says Trump will not be the Republican party nominee in 2020. In the unlikely event that Trump is not on the November 2020 general-election ballot, what then?

SurveyUSA tests Vice President Mike Pence against 5 possible Democratic nominees and separately tests Nikki Haley, former Ambassador to the United Nations and former Governor of South Carolina, against 5 possible Democratic nominees.

Pence today loses CA to O'Rourke by 13 points, loses to Harris and Warren by 17 points, loses to Sanders by 26 points and loses to Biden by 31 points. Haley today loses CA to O'Rourke by 19 points, loses to Warren by 24 points, loses to Harris by 27 points, loses to Sanders by 32 points and loses to Biden by 35 points.

Of the 1,785 CA registered voters interviewed, approximately 11% of those who voted for Trump in 2016 regret doing so; 89% of those who voted for Trump in 2016 have no regrets. By contrast, of those in CA who voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016, approximately 8% regret doing so; 92% have no regrets.

About: SurveyUSA interviewed 2,250 state of California adults immediately after the Democratic candidates debated in Houston TX on 09/12/19. Interviews were conducted online 09/13/19 through 09/16/19. Of the adults, 1,785 were registered to vote in California. Time-series data is not just available for the overall results to a particular question, but for every demographic sub-population. As is true with any opinion research report, the fewer the individual respondents in the sub-population, the larger the chance that sampling error and other error may make those estimates less precise. Hillary Clinton carried California in 2016 by 30 points.
