| Some Movement Toward Gun Control In San Diego After Newtown Slaughter: By a 25-point margin, San Diego area adults say semi-automatic assault weapons should be nationally banned, according to this latest exclusive KGTV 10 News poll conducted by SurveyUSA. 59% today say the weapons should be banned; 34% oppose a ban. An identical SurveyUSA poll released 07/23/12, immediately following the 07/20/12 Aurora Colorado shootings, showed a significantly smaller 8-point margin of support for a ban on semi-automatic weapons. Today, Republicans support a semi-automatic weapon ban 60% to 34%; on 07/23/12, Republicans were equally divided.
52% of San Diego adults today say it is more important to control gun ownership than it is to protect the right of Americans to own guns, up from 49% in July. 42% say it is more important to protect the right to own guns, down from 44% in July.
