GOP Incumbent Still Ahead in Washington State Attorney General Contest: In an election for Attorney General of Washington state today, 07/15/08, sixteen weeks until votes are counted, incumbent Republican Rob McKenna defeats Democratic challenger John Ladenburg by 8 points, according to this exclusive poll conducted by SurveyUSA for KING-TV in Seattle and KATU-TV in Portland Oregon. Today, it's McKenna 49%, Ladenburg 41%. Compared to an identical poll released one month ago, there is no change; McKenna is flat, and Ladenburg is down a single point. 16% of Democrats cross over to vote for McKenna; 7% of Republicans cross over to vote for Ladenburg. McKenna is above 50% among men, voters age 50+, independents, and whites. McKenna, first elected in 2004, is running for his second term. Ladenburg is the County Executive of Pierce County. |
Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 900 Washington adults 07/13/08 through 07/15/08; of the adults, 806 identified themselves as being registered to vote in Washington state. Of the registered voters, 666 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the November general election. 37 of Washington's 39 counties vote exclusively by mail; ballots must be postmarked no later than Election Day, 11/04/08. |
