In Ohio, Cordray and Kucinich Tied in Democratic Primary Fight for Right to Face GOP DeWine in November Gubernatorial Election;
In November Look-Ahead: Democrat Brown Has Majority Support for Senate Re-Election No Matter Which Republican Opposes Him:

3 weeks till early voting begins and 7 weeks until ballots are counted, Democrats Richard Cordray and Dennis Kucinich are tied in the primary battle to oppose presumptive Republican Gubernatorial nominee Mike DeWine, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for WOIO-TV in Cleveland.

Republican incumbent Governor John Kasich is term-limited. DeWine, well known in Ohio politics, is opposed in the Primary by Mary Taylor, where DeWine leads by 32 points at this hour and is in no danger of being defeated in an upset.

When voters are asked to imagine a November general election ballot with DeWine facing Kucinich and DeWine facing Cordray, Cordray outperforms long-time Ohio fixture Kucinich. Today, 33 weeks till votes are counted, it's:

* DeWine 47%, Cordray 39% --- an 8-point advantage for the Republican.
* DeWine 51%, Kucinich 38% --- a 13-point advantage for the Republican.

In the Republican primary for United States Senator --- for the right to run against incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown in the November general election --- Jim Renacci at 21% doubles his nearest challenger Mike Gibbons at 10%, with 3 other Republicans in single digits.

Democrat Brown seeks his 3rd term in the Senate. He was elected with 56% of the vote in 2006 --- when he defeated DeWine --- and re-elected in 2012 with 51% of the vote. Today, it's:

* Brown 52%, Renacci 38% --- a 14-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
* Brown 52%, Gibbons 38% --- a 14-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
* Brown 52%, Dan Kiley 37% --- a 15-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.
* Brown 53%, Don Eckhart 37% --- a 16-point lead for the Democratic incumbent.

Approval ratings:

* Donald Trump has a Minus 10 Net Job Approval: 51% of Ohio voters disapprove of the job Trump is doing as President, 41% approve.
* By contrast, Mike Pence has a Plus 5 Net Job Approval: 46% of Ohio voters approve of the job Pence is doing as Vice President; 41% disapprove.
* John Kasich has a Plus 23 Net Job Approval: 54% of Ohio voters approve of the job Kasich is doing as Governor, 31% disapprove.
* Brown has a breathtakingly strong Plus 28 Net Job Approval: 55% of Ohio voters approve of the job Brown is doing as U.S. Senator, 27% disapprove.
* By contrast, Republican Rob Portman has a Plus 10 Net Job Approval: 43% of voters approve of the job Portman is doing as Senator, 33% disapprove.

Ohio Voters Split on Whether Arming Teachers Would Make Students More Safe;
Buckeye State Opposes 5:3 So-Called 'Red-Light' Cameras at Traffic Intersections:

42% of Ohio voters say arming teachers would make students more safe, compared to 40% who say arming teachers would make students less safe, SurveyUSA's WOIO-TV poll finds. By contrast:

* 81% say that metal detectors at each entrance would make students safer, compared to 4% who disagree.

* 74% say that armed military veterans or retired police officers on site would make students safer, compared to 9% who disagree.

* 79% say that active-duty police officers on site would make students safer, compared to 6% who disagree.

* 55% say that banning AR-15 style rifles would make students safer, compared to 17% who disagree.

56% statewide say the use of so-called "red-light" cameras that take pictures of cars at traffic intersections should be illegal in Ohio, compared to 31% who say the cameras should be legal. Cleveland-area residents are opposed to the cameras by larger margins than other regions of the state.
