| VA-6: Incumbent Republican Goodlatte Ahead 2:1 in Bid for 9th Term in US House: In an election for United States House of Representatives from Virginia's 6th Congressional District today, 08/14/08, 12 weeks till votes are counted, incumbent Republican Bob Goodlatte defeats Democrat Sam Rasoul 59% to 30%, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WDBJ-TV Roanoke and WJLA-TV Washington DC. Independent Janice Lee Allen takes 3% of the vote today, with 7% of likely voters undecided. Goodlatte, who is seeking his ninth term in Congress, wins majorities of both men and women, young and old. 19% of Democrats cross over to to vote for Goodlatte; Independents favor Goodlatte by 30 points. Rasoul, a small business entrepreneur, holds 69% of Democratic votes, and wins 74% of liberals, but trails Goodlatte by 11 among moderates. |
