| Washington State Political Landscape 11/23/11:
For Governor:
For U.S. Senator:
* Maria Cantwell (D) 48%
* Maria Cantwell (D) 49% Washington state voters are split on whether to raise the state sales tax. Republicans are twice as likely as Democrats to say that Senator Patty Murray is "mostly" or "somewhat" responsible for the failure of the Super Committee to reach an agreement. Cell-phone and home-phone respondents included in this research: SurveyUSA interviewed 700 adults 11/21/11 through 11/23/11. Of them, 613 were registered to vote. Of the registered, 549 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the November 2012 elections. This research was conducted multi-mode. Respondents who use a home telephone (81% of registered voters, 83% of likely voters) were interviewed on their home phone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents who do not use a home telephone (19% of registered voters, 17% of likely voters) were shown a questoinnaire on their smartphone, laptop, tablet or other electronic device. Consistent with other SurveyUSA research, cell-phone respondents thnk differently than do landline respondents on certain issues: 30% of landline respondents say Senator Murray is not responsible for the failure of the Super Committee, almost 4 times greater than the 8% of cell-phone respondents who say Murray is not responsible. 54% of cell phone respondents support the right for same sex couples to marry, compared to 37% of landline respondents. |
