By 2:1, CA Voters Back Death Penalty: 61% of registered voters from the state of California say they would vote to keep the death penalty, should a death penalty initiative appear on the November 2012 ballot, according to this latest SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KGTV-TV San Diego, KPIX-TV San Francisco, KFSN-TV Fresno, and KABC-TV Los Angeles. 29% say they would vote to eliminate the death penalty. Keeping the death penalty law in California is supported by a majority among all groups except liberals, who are divided. |
Cell phone and home phone respondents included in this research: 600 California adults were interviewed by SurveyUSA 03/01/12. Of the adults, 511 identified themselves as being registered to vote and were asked the question below. This research was conducted using blended sample, mixed-mode. Respondents reachable on a home telephone (73% of registered voters) were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents not reachable on a home telephone (27% of registered voters) were shown a questionnaire on their smart phone, tablet, laptop or other electronic device. |
