Obama 2:1 Atop McCain In Empire State: In an election for President of the United States in the state of New York today, 10/13/08, Democrat Barack Obama defeats Republican John McCain 64% to 31%, according to this latest exclusive SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WABC-TV New York, WGRZ-TV Buffalo, WNYT-TV Albany, and WHEC-TV Rochester. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released 18 days ago, Obama is up 7 points; McCain is down 7 points.
Obama today takes a majority of the vote among both men and women, young and old, white and black, rich and poor, religious and less religious, well-educated and less educated. 1 in 3 Republicans today cross over to vote for Barack Obama. 1 in 8 Democrats cross over to vote for John McCain. Independents are divided. |
Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 725 New York adults 10/11/08 and 10/12/08. Of the adults, 644 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 547 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 11/04/08 general election. New York has 31 Electoral College votes. John Kerry carried the state by 18 points in 2004; Al Gore carried the state by by 25 points in 2000. |
