| In Oregon's 5th Congressional District, Democratic Candidates Have Yet to Define Themselves: 57% of those likely to vote in Oregon's 5th Congressional District Democratic primary on 05/20/08 are today undecided, according to a SurveyUSA pre-primary poll conducted exclusively for KATU-TV in Portland. State Senator Kurt Schrader gets 23% today. Steve Marks, who served as Chief of Staff to former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber, gets 20%. The majority of voters, five weeks until votes are counted, have yet to decide on a candidate, which appears to reflect the small amount of money raised and spent to date in the Democratic contest. The winner of the Democratic Primary will in the November general election face Republican Mike Erickson or Kevin Mannix, who are effectively tied in the GOP Primary. Incumbent Democrat Darlene Hooley is retiring. The U.S. House seat is open. |
| Filtering: 1,600 adults from Oregon's 5th congressional district were interviewed 04/13/08 through 04/15/08. Of them, 1,526 were registered to vote. Of them, 591 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 05/20/08 closed Democratic primary election for U.S. House. All voting is by U.S. mail. Ballots may be returned until 8 pm on 05/20/08. |
