Georgia 3:1 Favors Legalizing Medical Marijuana, Split on Recreational Marijuana;
Majority in Peach State Supports Casino Gambling and Pari-Mutuel Wagering:

67% of Georgia voters say that growing marijuana for medical purposes should be legal in the state, according to research conducted exclusively for WXIA-TV in Atlanta. 23% say growing marijuana for medical use should remain illegal. Seniors, "Strong Republicans" and "very conservative" voters are the most likely to oppose legalization.

42% of voters say the recreational use of marijuana should be legalized in GA, but a larger number, 48%, oppose. Young voters and liberals are the most likely to support.

59% support betting on horses, if the state-reaped profits from the wagering are used to help fund the HOPE scholarship. 29% oppose.

56% say casino gambling should be legalized in Georgia, 34% oppose. Evangelical Christians split; non-evangelicals favor overwhelmingly.

Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 1,650 Georgia adults 02/22/16 through 02/23/16. Of the adults interviewed, 1,454 were registered to vote. This research was conducted using blended sample, mixed mode. Respondents reachable on a home telephone (53% of registered voters) were interviewed on their home telephone in the recorded voice of a professional announcer. Respondents not reachable on a home telephone (47% of registered voters) were shown a questionnaire on their smartphone, tablet or other electronic device.
