Bloomberg Spending in NYC Mayor Contest Begins to Pay Dividends: In an election for New York City mayor today, 10/13/09, three weeks until votes are counted, incumbent Mayor Mike Bloomberg is re-elected to a third term, defeating Democrat Bill Thompson, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WABC-TV. Bloomberg is today at or above 50% in all five boroughs, among young and old voters, among the more educated and less educated, among the more affluent and less affluent, among whites and Hispanics, and among Democrats and Republicans.
Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 1,100 city of New York adults 10/10/09 through 10/12/09. Of them, 956 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 562 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely to vote in the 11/03/09 general election. Although Bloomberg's name will appear on both the Republican party and Independence party lines on the ballot, Bloomberg is an independent. SurveyUSA's 10/06/09 release incorrectly identified him as a Republican.
